Benefits of Membership
The annual dues are $24 and entitle members to vote on all Guild business, hold office, receive the Xylophile newsletter, attend instructional classes, borrow books and videos from the Guild library, receive selected retailer discounts and participate in all other Guild activity.
Classes:
As a member of the Woodworker's Guild you are entitled to participate in inexpensive classes offered to
members only. These classes are held for novice and experienced woodworkers and
have included varied subjects such as: Shaker Oval Box making, Spindle and Bowl
Turning, Basic Woodworking, Furniture and Cabinet making projects.
Discounts:
We have arranged for members
to receive discounts on material and equipment purchased from participating
local business partners. Members have also purchased books through the Guild at
deep discount.
Guild newsletter:
Each month, the Xylophile,
our newsletter, is published and distributed to the membership. It contains a
synopsis of the previous meeting as well as a preview of the next meeting’s
program. It also has a free classified ad section where members can sell their
excess equipment and supplies as well as providing a place for members to list
items they desire.
Monthly meetings:
Meetings are held monthly (except
July) at the
Community House in North Scituate, RI where the Guild provides members with an
opportunity to meet people throughout the region who share their interest in
woodworking, a chance to exchange ideas and to see and discuss projects which
members have created, some of which can be seen here. Our meetings
feature presenters both from within the Guild and from the woodworking community
at large and offer a variety of topics, skills and techniques.
