A nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting community interest in woodworking as an art form and creative crafts, supporting education in woodwork and creating fellowship among woodworkers and those aspiring to be woodworkers.
The Woodworker's Guild of Rhode Island was started in October of 1997 by two people, and we now have about 70 members. We plan to continue to grow to gain the strength necessary to provide an exciting program for its members. The membership is limited to people interested in woodworking and wood as an artistic material. This can be accomplished in any means that the person wishes and the members vary from new beginners to old experts. This refers to their experience as well as age. We have members who carve, some turn wood on a lathe, some make furniture. This includes hand tools, power tools, inlay, marquettry, bowls, sculptures, cabinets, etc. Woodworking offers the opportunity for expression in so many different forms, it captures woodworking enthusiasts for life.
EXCITING NEWS for Guild Members! Some of our Guild members are generously opening up their shops and offering their skills to help other members. For more information see the "Share my Shop" link on the left or click here. Keep checking back as we increase the capabilities and participation.
