Making a Band Saw Box

This class teaches the student how to make a 2- drawer, four-compartment jewelry box out of a solid block of wood.  They will learn how to use the Band Saw, Belt Sander, Jointer and Router Table.  Under the guidance of the instructor this class gives the student a truly hands-on experience and a high quality finished project that they can be proud of.  In addition, wood glue-up, wood lamination, hand sanding, drawer lining and finishes will be taught.  No band saw experience is necessary and all material is included in the cost of the class.  This four-day class is a great woodworking experience. This class will be held on four consecutive Friday evenings, April 4,11,18,25.  Each participant will complete his or her own box during the class sessions. The instructor, Peter Silvestre is a hobbyist woodworker who has been woodworking for over 20 years and has, over the years, built furniture, clocks and a variety of jewelry boxes. Cost is $50 and you should contact Peter directly if interested in signing up, at psilvestre@comcast.net.

The following classes have been set up exclusively for our members.  In all cases the instructor will be Mickey Callahan, Director of Education at Woodcraft.  Classes will be held in the Woodcraft shop in E. Greenwich Rhode Island.  To register, full non-refundable payment is due in advance.  Any class not reaching the minimum class size, one week in advance of the offering will be canceled and registration payments will be returned. All Weekday classes will be held from 6PM to 9PM.  All weekend classes will be held from 12:30 PM till 4:30 PM. Registration will be directly through Woodcraft.
